T-Mobile customer shocked by a $ 201000 bill
News from Digitaltrends.com:
Since international roaming charges are often overlooked by most cell phone and smartphone owners, a Florida woman received a nasty bill after placing her brother on the family cell phone plan.
Received in early October 2011, Celina Aarons of Florida was ”crying and shaking” after ripping open her 43-page T-Mobile bill for the month that totaled over $ 200,000 in wireless charges. While Aarons wasn’t directly responsible for racking up the charges, she did authorize one of her brothers to use the account during a vacation to Canada. The brother, Shamir, is legally deaf and communicates entirely through text messaging. Shamir texted over 2,000 times during the trip at a rate of $ 0.20 per text message which is T-Mobile’s international messaging rate. However, Shamir also downloaded and watched plenty of…………… continues on Digitaltrends.com

Sprint files lawsuit to block merger of AT&T and T-Mobile
News from Los Angeles Times:
Sprint Nextel has thrown yet another gauntlet at the feet of AT&T, this time suing to block the company’s increasingly troubled bid to take over T-Mobile USA.
If AT&T and T-Mobile were to combine to form the nation’s largest wireless network, Sprint said, the resulting wireless monolith would be strong enough to “exclude competitors, raise their costs, restrict their access to handsets, damage their businesses and ultimately to le…………… continues on Los Angeles Times

AT&T Said Able to Reduce T-Mobile Bid Price If Remedies Grow Too Costly
News from Bloomberg:
AT&T Inc. (T) can lower the price it pays for T-Mobile USA Inc. if the remedies requested by regulators become too expensive, according to three people with direct knowledge of the purchase contract.
AT&T would be able to pay less than the deal’s original $ 39 billion value if regulators demand asset sales that surpass 20 percent of that figure, or about $ 7.8 billion, said the people, who declined to be identified because this clause of the contract isn’t public. AT&T could walk away from the deal and pay the breakup fee if the concessions requested top 40 percent of that value, they said.
AT&T is fighting to salvage its bid to acquire T-Mobile and become the largest U.S. wireless operator after the …………… continues on Bloomberg

AT&T Sues Law Firms Seeking To Block T-Mobile Deal
News from SlashGear:
AT&T is now suing the law firms that have been seeking to block the $ 39 billion acquisition of T-Mobile. Back in July, New York-based law firm Bursor & Fisher began a “Fight the Merger” campaign in which they encouraged AT&T customers to file arbitration cases against the carrier to challenge the merger. So far, the firm has already filed 26 arbitration demands and over 900 notices of dispute on behalf of AT&T customers.
Arbitration cases are being filed instead of class-action lawsuits due to the result of the AT&T vs. Concepcion case last November, in which the Supreme Court sided with AT&…………… continues on SlashGear

Verizon workers rally for benefits
News from Catskill Daily Mail:
GREENPORT — The local manifestation of the two-week long strike of the New York-based Communications Workers of America against Verizon became more visible — and more political — Wednesday.
Strikers arrived from other counties and joined with local elected officials for a large rally at the front of the Verizon store in Greenport.
On the premises of the strike, a huge inflatable rat was being filled with air, in addition to the other rat already blown up. Strikers said the rats stood for corporate greed.
A casket, representing the death of the middle class, was also in the midst of the red T-shirts of protesters, along with some young children of the protesters.
The Verizon workers on strike are saying that they should be given the contract benefits they deserve, because they are the part of the company that actually does all of the ground work, literally, and building of the …………… continues on Catskill Daily Mail
