Verizon Links Landline and Verizon Wireless Services

Facing competition from cellphone providers, cable companies, and online companies that now offer dial tones, Verizon Communications Inc. introduced a voice package that integrates cellphone and landline service.

Beginning October 1, customers within Verizon's landline service area can bundle home and wireless calling in a simple package and get calling features and unlimited calling between their home and their Verizon Wireless phone - all on a single bill at prices starting at $59.99 a month.

In January, AT&T introduced AT&T Unity, a plan that combines wireless and wireline calling to allow customers to make unlimited calls to other AT&T customers.
